Take Time to Explore Your Surroundings

One of the key standouts of Elden Ring is that it has one of the most extensive open worlds. The sheer number of small caves, hidden dungeons and treasures seems virtually endless, and players are highly encouraged to explore and strengthen their character's resources throughout their gameplay.

NPCs often provide additional quests or lead players to optional challenges, and by following through, players may pick up valuable loot and other treasures that will benefit them greatly in the skirmishes to come. Remember, that your character can carry tonnes of inventory for crafting, which may come in use later.

Master the Different Fighting Techniques and Weapons

Elden Ring can be especially challenging to newcomers, but with time and patience, players can learn how to master their characters' skills and abilities. Especially at the beginning of the game, it is crucial to quickly learn enemy attack patterns and figure out how to defeat them quickly and without taking too much damage.

Players have a variety of weapons and different strategies that can be used in combat. Swords, axes, spears, and magic staffs all have their uses, and you are encouraged to experiment with different weapons to maximise your character's combat abilities. Some work better with different combinations of armor and spells.

Players must collect runes and spend them wisely in order to bring the most out of their characters and abilities. Early on in the game, Vitality and Endurance should be the main point of focus for newcomers.

The offensive stats of Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith/Arcane can be balanced out with the defensive stats after players have good Vitality and Endurance.

Save Often and Hold Onto Your Runes

As you come across larger and more formidable foes, you have to be prepared for the eventuality that your character may get killed off. In order to reduce the damage of defeat, make sure you save often and remember the location of your death so that you can salvage your runes.

The Stake of Marika statues are respawn points that are often located near challenging fights. Be sure to use them so that you can quickly respawn and get back into the action. But be careful around these more challenging fights, as if you die again without picking up the runes that were left after the first death, they will be lost forever.
